Unless they have it all wrong and there is some other explenation. Other Cosmic Voids. Measuring a mind-numbing distance of 330 million light-years in diameter, the void is one of the largest examples of this “empty” space phenomenon.
This void is one of the most famous voids in the universe mainly because it was one of the first major voids discovered. 76% Upvoted .
1981 – Discovery of a large void in the Boötes region of the sky that was nearly 50 h −1 Mpc in diameter (which was later recalculated to be about 34 h −1 Mpc). The Boötes Void was initially discovered as part of a study into the existing process of redshift – the movement of interstellar objects to or from Earth. Vacuum collapse will, AFAIK, spread wit the speed of light, or close to the speed of light, i vacuum.
save hide report. It was discovered in 1981. Es handelt sich um eine sphärische Region des Weltalls mit einem Durchmesser von rund 300 Millionen Lichtjahren, die nur sehr wenige Galaxien enthält.
Discovered by Robert Kirshner and colleagues in 1981, it is roughly 700 million light-years from Earth.
The centre of the void is about 700 million light years from us (redshift 0.052) and it has a diameter of about 300 million light years. It is 330 million light-years across, and contains only 60 galaxies that we’ve detected, whereas at our local density it should contain around 2000. However, the Local Void is the closest one to Earth. It’s a mere baby in comparison to The Boötes void at roughly 60 million light-years across and forms part of the Virgo Supercluster of which the Milky Way is a member. What are some theory's on why the boötes void exists. Beyond it and within the bounds of the constellation, lie two superclusters at around 830 million and 1 billion light-years distant.
Probably just a small, local, downward primordial quantum fluctuation in density at end of the inflationary era.
I am changing the title of the section from "Theories" to "Explanations". Talk:Boötes void. Talk:Boötes void.
1981 – Discovery of a large void in the Boötes region of the sky that was nearly 50 h −1 Mpc in diameter (which was later recalculated to be about 34 h −1 Mpc). 5 years ago. A void of this size would have also taken longer than the universe has been around, to exist. Finally, the Boötes void provides another humbling reminder of the vastness and sparseness of the cosmos.
If someone who is better informed of the current models could contribute, that would be excellent, I will give it my best shot, but it will be far from adequate, I'm afraid.
650 Millionen … Unless they have it all wrong and there is some other explenation.
One theory, which recent evidence may back up, is that it formed when two or more ordinary voids collided. WikiProject Astronomy / ... Total tripe.
