That's more than a third of the way to the next star over. In the silence and darkness between the stars, where our Sun appears as just a particularly bright star, a theorized group of icy objects collectively called the Oort Cloud coast along their orbits like lazy moths around a porch light.

The heliosphere is therefore at least an order of magnitude smaller than the inner boundary of the Oort Cloud, and over two orders of magnitude smaller than the Oort Cloud overall. Interstellar space begins where the heliosphere ends. It is considered to contain a large number of planetesimals, made of frozen water, methane and ammonia. This is an artist's concept of our Heliosphere as it travels through our galaxy with the major features labeled. Sednoids may have aphelions ranging from about 100 AU to 1,000 AU. This region, crowded with rock-ice objects is the suspected origin of long-period type comets.

The Oort Cloud's icy bodies can be as large as mountains — and sometimes larger. Blowing outward billions of kilometers from the Sun is the solar wind, a thin stream of electrically charged gas. The boundary of the solar system is considered to be beyond the outer edge of the Oort Cloud , a collection of small objects that are still under the influence of the Sun's gravity. The Oort cloud (/ ɔːr t, ʊər t /), named after the Dutch astronomer Jan Oort, sometimes called the Öpik–Oort cloud, is a theoretical cloud of predominantly icy planetesimals proposed to surround the Sun at distances ranging from 2,000 to 200,000 au (0.03 to 3.2 light-years). Hence, the Heliosphere lies within the 'hypothesised' Oort cloud. The outer regions of the cloud reach the boundary of the solar system.

The Oort Cloud is a hypothesized area at the edge of our solar system theorized by Jan Oort in 1950.

The Oort cloud is believed to begin somewhere beyond 2000 AU from the Sun.

While the probes have left the heliosphere, Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 have not yet left the solar system, and won't be leaving anytime soon. The hypothesised Oort Cloud starts somewhere between 2,000 and 5,000AU from the Sun and may extend to about 50,000AU. Before the Oort cloud, there’s a region called heliopause.

Its overall shape is like a puffed-up disk, or donut. Sedna's aphelion is ~936 AU, bringing it close to the inner boundary of the Oort Cloud. But by some measures, Voyager 1 remains inside the solar system, which is surrounded by a shell of comets known as the Oort Cloud. The problem is, only two Sednoids have beet detected to date, 90377 Sedna and 2012 VP 113. This was achieved by Voyager 1 in 2012 when it was at a distance of ~ 120 AU from the Sun. 1.
