Several of us in the LROC Science Operations Center therefore are tasked with forecasting the probable temperature of the NAC CCD a few days in advance. North is to the upper right, LROC NAC M1303570617LR [NASA/GSFC/Arizona State University]. Searching for, Downloading, and Saving LROC Images into Usable Files Searching for LROC images can be cumbersome and overwhelming. A. LROC Lunar Orbiter Images On Gigapan 2 years 2 months ago #12079 I'll start this off with a nice oblique view LROC Image M162350671 View of Tycho Crater and Central Summit. The LROC consists of two narrow-angle cameras (NACs) that provide 0.5 meter-scale panchromatic images over a 5 km swath , a wide-angle camera (WAC) to provide images at a scale of 100 meters/pixel in seven color bands over a 60 km swath, and a Sequence and Compressor System (SCS) supporting data acquisition for both cameras. If you merely want to look at LROC images just to look at them, that’s easy. LRO data is essential for planning NASA's future human and robotic missions to the Moon. We are certain it is the correct crater because it does not appear in the “before” NAC image (10 March 2012).

The map above, based on an LROC global image mosaic, is a near-copy of that historic map. Credit: LROC /Quickmap At the bottom there is a link to Sites of Interest showing the Apollo landing sites and other recent discoveries like lava tubes and natural bridges. The Chang'e 4 rover is now visible to LROC! The image appears blocky because it is enlarged 4x to make it easier to see the two vehicles.

Resolution- Resolution of image; Exposure- How long the exposure was of the image (How long did it take to make the image) Sub-Solar Azimuth - This is the angle of the sunshine on the image, measured from 0 at the right hand size of the image. For a given temperature appropriate image acquisition commands can be sent to LRO for different positions around the Moon to insure the best-quality images. The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter is a NASA robotic spacecraft currently orbiting the Moon in an eccentric polar mapping orbit. The map was based on photographs taken using large Earth-based telescopes.

The 10th LROC Planetary Data System release includes images acquired between 2011-12-16 to 2012-03-15.

Red dots represent the five candidate Apollo 11 and Apollo 12 landing sites as of February 1968. A LROC NAC image acquired on 28 July 2013 revealed a new 18-meter (59 feet) diameter crater that corresponds to the location of the bright flash. The Image Search and Thumbnail pages lead to the same image display pages. NASA.gov brings you the latest images, videos and news from America's space agency.
If 0, the sun is coming from the right hand size, etc. This release contains 72,338 EDR images totaling 8.9 TB and 72,338 CDR images totaling 19 TB. Using the coordinate range can be a bit tricky (Figure 2). Get the latest updates on NASA missions, watch NASA TV live, and learn about our quest to reveal the unknown and benefit all humankind. Just beyond the tip of the right arrow is the rover and the lander is to the right of the tip of the left arrow.

At present it appears that the display pages for most LROC products of known Product ID can be found directly with a (case sensitive) link of the form: Visit the LROC gallery at ...
