Waikaraka Cemetery is located at 1 Alfred Street in Onehunga. Te Papa’s natural history collections database includes plants, birds, molluscs, land mammals, reptiles and amphibians, fish, and arthropods, from 1769 to present day. In some cases, ‘The’ is part of the name and takes an initial capital, as in ‘Te Marae’ and ‘The Colossal Squid’. Research into Te Papa's collections is continuing and the information appearing in this website may not necessarily reflect the best available knowledge about the collections items today. This appendix includes the names of: Te Papa spaces; Te Papa exhibitions and stand-alone exhibits. Please check Te Papa's Collections Online database for further information about collection items. Te Papa's collection data is stored in Axiell's EMu collection management system (in a relational database). (For the titles of Te Papa positions and divisions, use the staff directory on Kupenga.) Only a percentage of specimens are databased, with percentages varying per collection. “For Te Papa, Mana Taonga is an Indigenous principle that aims to restore the right of Māori to their material culture” Mana Taonga is a policy and principle that recognizes people and cultures. The first burial took place in 1890 and the cemetery continues to operate.
