THE TRIP: A very belated review here: back in June 2019 we got a taxi boat with Totally Tarawera to hot water beach including the shuttle bus from the car park and then walked back along the lake side to the car park. It took us 4 hours 30 minutes including stops, about 4 hours walking. Also, this hot water beach knocks the socks off the one in Coromandel.
Accessible only by boat or on foot via the Tarawera Trail the campground is at the end of the Tarawera Trail.
