About 500 students from around the U.S. have been granted the opportunity to intern this summer at the four campuses connected with NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Goddard Institute for Space Studies…

In 2015 the dataset was updated and extended through December 2009 using NOAA-17 and -18 AVHRR data.

The science research there is mostly done by post-doctoral fellows. Students will work under the guidance of a mentor to conduct research or engage in experiential learning. NASA Internships are competitive awards to support educational opportunities in NASA-related research and operational experiences at NASA Centers for high school, undergraduate, and graduate students, as well as educators. NASA Student Internships NASA internships provide students the opportunity to get hands-on experience and to work with scientists, aeronautics, space science, and engineering personnel at NASA Centers or within the aerospace industry. NASA internships and fellowships leverage NASA’s unique missions and programs to enhance and increase the capability, diversity and size of the nation’s future science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) workforce. Research at GISS emphasizes a broad study of global climate change. The GACP aerosol optical thickness and Angstrom exponent dataset was initially created covering the time period August 1981 through June 2005. Research at the Goddard Institute for Space Studies emphasizes a broad study of Global Change, the natural and anthropogenic changes in our environment that affect the habitability of our planet.
