Rules question: Planeswalkers a players. 3. i decided to make another one of these threads, feel free to troll me and call me a noob or whatever. Planeswalkers can only be played at a time you could play a sorcery (Main Phase 1 or 2) 2. A Planeswalker enters play with the number of Loyalty Counters on it equal to the number on the bottom right. Planeswalkers are not players, and anything that targets players can not target Planeswalkers.
306.7.
planeswalkers are boring to play and to play against. 306.5. but notice how with planeswalkers, its never anything spectacular or unexpected.
Loyalty is a characteristic only planeswalkers have. they are very one dimensional. Last year, Wizards of the Coast brought Magic: The Gathering into Dungeons & Dragons with the Guildmasters’ Guide to Ravnica book. There's pretty much just a single rule that make them seem a little similar to players: you can choose to attack your opponent and/or planeswalkers they control. Planes walkers can be attacked and targeted as if they were a player. The planeswalker spell list is composed of spell effects which, (in my opinion) most closely imitate the fundamental actions planeswalkers (Both the players and cards) are capable of in the card game, (at least thematically, anyways) and in the source material. Now, Christopher Willett wants to expand on that idea. they also have poor depth of interaction with everything else. In Magic, the two players are referred to as Planeswalkers casting spells to do combat.Willett brings the idea of the Planeswalker (and the different colors) to D&D campaigns.
Also consider things that do something for every player: You can redirect noncombat damage at … 1. Planeswalkers are not players (or opponents), and they're never treated as players (or opponents). Planeswalkers aren't players, no, as Kirtanei said. Effects that do something to each player in the game (such as Breath of Malfegor) don't hit planeswalkers. Say I use a lightning bolt; I can target a planeswalker as the player. When it comes to combat and noncombat damage, it is still targeted at the player, only redirected at Planeswalkers. Don't think of them as players, and you'll be a lot less likely to get confused. however they are played because of how powerful they can be.
